Quality assurance
The Furniture Industry Research Association was first established in 1949 by the furniture industry for the industry.
FIRA International provides a wide range of independent expert services that are not only dedicated to the global furniture supply chain, but also to furniture consumers, and continues safeguarding the industry through managing the Association’s membership activity.

The FIRA Gold Certification is the industry recognised quality mark for products & installation services.
To be awarded FIRA Gold, our products are assessed against specified performance levels through independent tests or evaluation by furniture industry experts. It’s documented proof that our products are of the highest standard with consistency in production quality verified through regular audit testing.
What's tested?
FIRA International is accredited to BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), ensuring that tests are carried out to the highest standards. Key areas for assessing desks:
Safety. Areas such as sharp edges and entrapment points in folding mechanisms;
Stability. Making sure a table won’t topple if you lean or sit on it;
Strength. Ability to withstand normal use loads, as well as foreseeable misuse, such as standing on a table;
Durability. Assessing the performance of the table over its lifetime;
Ergonomics. Ergonomically excellent products are likely to improve efficiency and productivity by helping to eliminate or minimise the ill effects of twenty first century offices and work practices. They can also reduce the incidence of musculo-skeletal disorders (MSD’s) and the resultant work absences
