Since the end of March, staff from over 50 locations have been moving to the most technologically advanced office in the SSE property estate. Now over 1800 staff are based at the 190,000 sq. ft. Reading headquarters.

Situated over 8 floors with 1547 permanent desks, the building has been designed with the key objectives of providing a flexible and dynamic work environment that enhances collaboration, efficiency and productivity.

With 136 break out spaces, 57 meeting rooms and a large ground floor café seating 260, the benefits of building objectives are clear. Microsoft Surface Hubs are installed in all meeting rooms; increasing the opportunity for staff to hold video meetings; reducing the need to travel between sites. Touch screen technology is used throughout the building, from lift services to interactive white boards enhancing the workflow for the internal retail marketing team.

The furniture for the building was sourced from over 19 suppliers through our dealer Claremont Office Furniture. A common feature across all floors is the extensive opportunity to step away from the desk whilst maintain productivity. Breakout pods and high back arm chairs all come with power integration and USB charging points, for work that requires more intense concentration and complete silence the acoustic work booths are located throughout the building and again feature power charging.

One of the many features within the building is the atrium space, a range of domestic style products create a central point of collaboration within the building, it can be seen from all floors and is situated close to the impressive triple height reception space, ideal for welcoming guests and hosting informal meetings. Designed by our team in collaboration Claremont Office Furniture with HKS Architects, this space, along with others including the digital media space was conceptualised as a result of our in depth knowledge for smart working activities, particularly in conjunction with product being specified within the space and the needs of the users.

The new building is located along the busy M4 corridor. With convenient links into London ,the building shares a post code with a number of well-known household brands. With facilities such as those now on offer at SSE they are able to not only retain their current staff for longer but will also be able to increase their talent attraction activities by providing a technologically advance, adaptable and welcoming place to work.
